TAMO means all the adventures of mosaic and it’s hosted inside the beautiful church of San Nicolò.
It’s an original, eclectic and multifarious museum focused on the mosaic art.
Every year the Museum hosts new exhibitions.
The Domus of Stone Carpets, so called by Federico Zeri, is an extraordinary archaeological site: one of the biggest site discovered in Italy during the last years. It was inaugurated by the President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi in 2002 and in 2004 won the important recognition “Bell’Italia 2004”
The Rasponi Crypt, the garden and the gardens on the roof are part of the Building of the Province of Ravenna. The Crypt is decorated with important mosaics on the floor: these mosaics come from the Church of S. Severo in Classe (VI century AC).
On the 28th of July 2015 the Ancient Port of Classe opened again!
The name Classe derives from the Latin word classis which means fleet: in this area is reviving the ancient port of Ravenna established by Augusto.
